Classroom rules and behavior

Classroom behavior

It is important to be consistent with the behaviors of the students, especially at this age.  I will be enforcing the following rules and consequences for a safe and productive year.

1.)    Raise our hands.

2.)    Talk softly.

3.)    Keep us safe.

4.)    1 person talks at a time.

5.)    Keep hands, feet, and objects to ourselves.

6.)    Walk in a line.

7.)    We work at our tables/desks.

8.) Talk nicely.

As a class we have talked about good and bad choices in our behaviors.  The students have a card pocket with their name on it.  When they have made a bad choice for their behavior, they will have a colored stick in their pocket.  They will have a green stick first.  They are still SAFE.  It is a warning/freebie.  If they correct their behavior they MAY have their stick back.

If the behavior does not change, or another bad choice is made, they will go to the yellow light/stick. (caution)  They may perhaps go to time-out to get their behaviors under control depending on their actions. They may lose some of their playtime (10 minutes), again depending on their actions.

If the behavior does not change, or another bad choice is made, they will go to the orange lightstick. (caution)  They may perhaps go to time-out to get their behaviors under control depending on their actions. They may lose some of their playtime (15 - 20 mins), again depending on their actions.

The next step is the red light/stick.  This is another time-out and complete loss of playtime.  The principal or head teacher may be notified if a child is in red during the day.

*For good choices the students may receive the following;

1.)    Weekly rewards (for being in green all week)

2.)    Incentives for keeping their stick in their basket all week

3.)    Monthly rewards for staying out of the yellow and red lights for the month.

4.)    Nine-Week rewards for always being on green or keeping their stick for the 9-week report card period.

5.)    Classroom treats for the whole class if we are all on green!!!!

You will be notified of yellow, orange, or red behavior for the day by the daily behavior chart.  Please send it back nightly and at the end of the week to keep on file. Thank you for your cooperation.   Mrs. Puskar’s email address:     spuskar@mpasd.net
